using your current wardrobe

jacket: zara // shirt: urban outfitters // top: joe fresh // jeans: levis // boots: urban outfitters // watch: michael kors

Lately I've been trying to inventory what I do have in my closet to try and utilize what I already own. Being a style blogger can easily make you into more of a shopaholic then you already are. You sometimes feel the pressure to keep up with other bloggers (which is never a good idea) and showcase a fabulous new item on the daily. In a way I'm glad I don't live somewhere with easily accessible stores but that will soon change in the new year ha ha.
With this post I decided to wear an outfit with items that have been neglected in my closet for a while. I've had this flannel shirt and jeans for at least 3 years. The jacket, boots & top are slightly more recent purchases but still for whatever reason ignored. This fall/winter I have decided to really try to use what I already own and remix the items like it's nobody's business! Who's with me?

Does anyone else feel this way sometimes? I'd love some advice!

Have a great Thursday!

  2. I love the leather accent on that jacket. Also, I'm all over plaid this fall/winter. You did a great job pulling this look together!

  3. Heyyyy, we ARE getting good at this twin thing! ;) Too funny! And I have also had this top for a month or two now and had yet to wear it, so it's funny that we both ended up wearing it at the same time!

  5. I totally feel the same way you do sometimes - I find it quite hard to keep up with the other bloggers, so I try not to compare myself too much. I think re-mixing your closet, trying on things you haven't tried on in a while, much like you did, can totally be inspirational though! Like the other day I found a skirt I had been saving for the fall that I found at a thrift store. It was quite a nice surprise! I also try to see some of my items in a different light - like would this dress look good with a sweater over it? How can I layer this sweater? Can I wear this dress belted instead? That usually helps me see my older items in a new light. If all this fails, I usually buy a new item though haha ;)

  6. I'm with you! It's so easy to fall into the trap of constantly buying stuff to stay current/compete with other bloggers, and it's definitely a slippery slope. This time last year I enforced a one month shopping ban, challenging myself to remix like crazy and rediscover old, forgotten pieces — By the end I had a new-found appreciation for my wardrobe, not to mention the fact that I saved some serious cash! Maybe another shopping ban is in order? ;)

  9. Love this look - and you have awesome hair!! :o) Totally agree about remixing things we already own... the creativity is in the way things are put together. It's not necessarily about being able to drop 3k on a new Celine bag every other week.
