summer essential: the black maxi skirt / melanie liliana

I have finally found a black maxi at none other than my trusty Forever 21.

I thought I'd kick off the official first day of summer by showcasing what is sure to be a summer staple in my wardrobe.

When it comes to other items in this outfit, I know what you're thinking.. how can you wear a scarf on the first day of summer?! Well my friends, this photo was taken last night.. but in reality Alberta is a very unpredictable place when it comes to weather. It's still very breezy here and not exactly the summer heat I am used to.

When it was finally sunny last night, my trusty photographer and I drove around our tiny town to find an inspiring background.. who knew there was such a cool graffiti wall? I love it!
