the much needed break

So it's been a while huh?
I haven't posted on here since the beginning of the year but I swear it was for a much needed rest. I'm going to be completely honest and say I was going through a very hard year personally.
I've always struggled with anxiety but last year I went from being mildly anxious to severe along with  some depression as well. It's so hard to admit to yourself that you're not ok, especially when we are constantly shown perfection through social media these days.
It got so bad that it started impacting my loved ones, my work, my blog, everything. I didn't even understand who I was anymore, it's as if my soul was gone and I was desperately trying to find it again. I was trying to find happiness and trying to find "Mel" again. It was completely exhausting and draining. It's hard to describe what anxiety and depression can do to you but I don't wish it on anyone.

After months of feeling hopeless, I finally decided to go to therapy and talk out what I was feeling. It was so comforting to talk to someone who was completely unbiased. It really did help me, I began to look forward to my weekly visits. Therapy along with the amazing support of my friends and loved ones really helped me.
One day I just decided to press the reset button and take an extended visit home. It was so scary to leave everything I was used to but let me tell you... it was the best thing I could have ever done. I wasn't rushed, I was completely relaxed with my family and friends. I helped with my sisters business, kept busy and slowly began to feel like myself again.
After about two months, I decided to come back to Calgary. It was scary to come back as I was starting to get used to being at home but I'm proud to say that I'm much happier now. I took time to myself, I took time for ME and took time to figure out what I wanted out of life. Your health is the most important thing and should always be taken care of. I'm a huge advocate of taking time for yourself. I also want to say that it's OK to NOT be ok! It's ok to not be perfect, it's ok to make mistakes.
I'm so glad I pulled myself out of the dark place that I was in but I know that might not be the case for others. What I'm trying to say is that someone out there loves you. Someone out there thinks you're amazing. Someone out there will always be there for you. Don't be afraid to ask for help, don't be afraid to ask to chat to a friend. There will always be someone who will listen. <3

Alright now that you're all caught up... Can we please talk about how beautiful this outfit is? I completely fell in love with it and I had so much confidence wearing it all day! It's a feel good outfit for sure, and who doesn't love those kind of outfits? I was so excited to share this outfit with you guys and I'm beyond happy to start blogging again! I missed it so much, it's definitely a creative outlet that brings me so much joy. As always, thank you for following along and for all your support, it means the world to me.

  3. Fantastic outfit! Club Monaco has the best stuff.

Happy to hear you took time for yourself to regroup. My son broke up with his girlfriend in December and came home for a full month. You can't beat the unconditional love and support a family gives. Kudos for seeking professional help when needed.
