canadian tuxedo

shirt: club monaco (old but lighter version still available) // jeans: banana republic (recent) // shoes: aldo // sunglasses: karen walker // watch: michael kors

I never thought I'd be caught dead wearing a "Canadian tuxedo"!
I mean, it has a bad rep am I right? I always picture the Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake ensemble which I oddly loved. It can definitely be tacky and just wrong but why is it called a Canadian tuxedo anyway? Not all Canadians wear this? I'd love to know where the origins of all that came from.  Canadians are cool I swear, even if we do have a strange obsession with denim on denim.

I've been told there is a cute way to style the tuxedo and yesterday I finally took the plunge. I think the key to getting away with it is to wear similar denim washes together and stay away from light washes.
To my surprise, I actually got a lot of compliments on my outfit which made me more confident about the whole look. The only issue? I decided to wear this when it was almost 30+ outside. OH WELL!

What are your thoughts on the Canadian tuxedo? Are you feeling it?

  1. I have a hard time matching denims (does that make sense), but I really love the Canadian tuxedo. You've pulled it off well, so it's not surprising you'd get the compliments!

  2. Looking good lady! My favourite outfit is a chambray button down with darker wash jeans on the bottom - Does this still count as a Canadian Tuxedo?
